Change: The Board of Correction

Change, aka The Board of Correction, is the cosmic 2x4 that takes great pleasure in smacking your comfort bubble so it bursts open and sends you flying out unprotected.

Wait, you mean comfort zone right? No, I meant comfort bubble. You see, we live in a universe that is constantly changing and therefore whether we realize it or not we are constantly changing. We can be prepared for change or change can take the great pleasure of catching us by surprise. In my case just recently, I was expecting the change but it didn’t break my bubble immediately. I had about two years of where my comfort bubble was building up for the grand explosion.

I was living in a miserable comfort bubble. Yes, I have discovered that life can be comfortable and miserable at the same time. My work environment was very toxic and my personal life was going through upheaval as well. I was contemplating a change but had no idea what or how. Which if you asked any of my friends, they can tell you that this was highly unusual for someone who always knew what they wanted to do.

So while I anticipated the board's arrival, I really didn't know how to prepare and more importantly I didn't know when change was going to make it's grand appearance, So I was about to go out into uncharted territory. So I did the only thing I could do given the situation, surrender. Now to surrender doesn’t mean that I gave up. Surrendering allowed me to accept the event unfolding and open my mind to the possibilities before me.

As the events around me started to unfold, I started with the one thing I knew I could control when and how to change; my health and well-being. I finally got health insurance for the first time in 10 years so I took the opportunity to get myself checked out and get back on track. Overall, I did find out I was in good health after all of those years of not getting comprehensive medical treatment. Armed with this knowledge about myself, I now started a new journey to finally becoming as health and fit as I possibly can be. How did I do it? Well that's another post for another time.
